Telegram has launched a new feature called Telegram Stars to improve payment methods, especially for app developers on the platform.
Innovation
Designed to simplify the monetization process for creators and developers.
Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced the launch of Telegram Stars – a payment system for purchasing digital products and services within apps on iOS and Android platforms.
Users can purchase “stars” – an in-app currency that can be exchanged for TON through the Fragment exchange. This system complies with Apple and Google’s policies for selling digital products, providing developers with a new revenue stream.

Developers who receive the so-called stars can use them to promote their apps on Telegram. Durov highlighted a key advantage: Apple and Google charge a 30% commission on star purchases, but Telegram compensates for ads purchased with them, effectively reducing the commission to almost zero. This subsidy makes launching apps on Telegram more profitable compared to platforms like Apple or Google.
The launch of Telegram Stars is part of Telegram’s strategy to attract and retain developers by providing effective monetization tools.
