As the election approaches, former US President Trump is receiving a large amount of cryptocurrency donations. Online cryptocurrency donations have reached nearly $60,000, excluding donations made through centralized exchanges like Coinbase. According to blockchain analytics firm Breadcrumbs, the Trump campaign received $218 in online cryptocurrency donations from 59,386 donors. Analyst James Delmore explains that many donations come from exchanges that are not considered on-chain transactions. The majority of donations are in USDC and are transmitted through Ethereum, Basis, and Polygon networks. Trump’s campaign has raised over $2.6 billion, with traditional donations still dominating.
