The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Russia and Iran, as members of the BRICS countries, are currently negotiating a new partnership agreement.
Maria Zakharova mentioned on Wednesday that Moscow is currently engaged in developing what she described as a significant agreement with Iran, emphasizing that it differs from previous agreements such as the one with North Korea.
The spokesperson highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Moscow, especially following Iran’s accession to BRICS.
Last year, the two countries also agreed to conduct trade using their local currencies instead of the US dollar, further solidifying their economic ties.

Additionally, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, a new interstate agreement reflecting the enhanced relations between Russia and Iran was recently finalized.
With Iran’s accession to BRICS, the alliance continues to strengthen its internal relations among member states.
Iran’s engagement with BRICS, including enhanced relations with China, has also boosted oil exports to a six-year high, significantly contributing to the economic dynamics within BRICS following its expansion in 2023.
