Last weekend, hackers launched a series of attacks on major cryptocurrency exchanges and platforms, resulting in the disappearance of millions of dollars.

According to CertiK Alerts data, BtcTurk, CoinStats, SportsBet, and Farcana were the main targets, with a total loss exceeding $950,000.

BtcTurk suffers $900,000 attack
On February 22nd, the Turkish cryptocurrency exchange BtcTurk fell victim to a severe cyber attack. Hackers compromised the exchange’s security, gaining control of 90 hot wallets and stealing various cryptocurrencies worth over $900,000. In response, BtcTurk suspended all cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals, assessed the damage, and addressed the security vulnerabilities.

CoinStats vulnerability affects 1,590 wallets
On the same day, popular cryptocurrency company CoinStats became the victim of a security vulnerability, affecting 1,590 wallets. CoinStats responded swiftly, limiting the losses to only 1.3% of the wallets, with an estimated loss of $20,000. The company stated that no related wallets or exchanges were hacked and is working diligently to resume normal operations.

Farcana: Compromised third-party wallet
On February 24th, the UAE-based blockchain studio Farcana Games reported the theft of one of its FAR wallets. While the company did not suffer direct financial losses, a third-party market maker was hacked, resulting in the theft of 880,000 FAR tokens valued at nearly $23,809,523. This incident highlights the vulnerability of third-party services. Farcana is currently in discussions with the affected market maker to improve its security protocols.
