The transfer of stolen dormant funds by Orbit Chain in December last year has attracted attention from the community.

The initial amount stolen in this theft was $480,000, but it later grew to over $10 billion, with no reporting for a period of time, leading people to believe that these ill-gotten gains were idle in a certain cryptocurrency wallet.

Recently, the hacker behind this massive event transferred the previously stolen nearly $320,000 worth of Ethereum tokens to Tornado Cash after depositing them into another wallet first; a service that hides encrypted transaction traces.

Therefore, tracking the funds and returning them to their owners is almost or completely impossible.

Although most cryptocurrency enthusiasts are confused, some believe that this transfer may be related to Orbit Chain’s recent actions regarding the adoption of certain bridge services (allowing the transfer of encrypted assets between different blockchains).

In the past hour, the Orbit Chain exploiter has transferred 8671 ETH (worth $320,000) to a new address and is currently depositing it into Tornado Cash.

This may indicate their intention to cash out the money, but it could also be an attempt to further mislead investigators.

Orbit Chain itself has not been very open about what happened. While they stated that they are cooperating with law enforcement, they have not disclosed detailed information about how the system was compromised or who may have been affected.
